The Sky Light series explores notions of the hidden along with the curiously seductive quality of dusk light - that brief period when our surroundings retreat into black silhouettes and the sky comes to life before vanishing into darkness. These lamps are made from layers of industrially perforated black aluminium sheeting, forming a series of tangible ‘screens.' Like dark veils, they conceal obscured views that juxtapose geometry with nature.

The colour transitions for each Sky Light have been programmed to echo electronic crepuscular sky-scapes, while the mesh layers not only enable an optical illusion of depth and dimension, but also enhance the sense of mystique. Like the torches that illuminate the Night Jewel brooches, the use of mesh here alludes to screen doors and the artificial lights of domestic life that attract nocturnal flyers to land on screen doors in summer. A physical barrier to the moth, here, the ‘screen’ is penetrated by the light inside the dark.
